Last night saw the final of Big Brother 2015 and the final episode failed to pull in less than 1.3 million viewers.
An overnight average of 1.22million viewers tuned in from 9.00pm last night. A further 61,000 caught it on Channel 5+1, giving it a total of 1.28million (7.0% audience share).
This is 320,000 less than the 1.6million that watched last year’s grand final – while it was down a whopping 550,000 viewers on the series launch show.
The 105-minute live show peaked with 1.50million viewers (8.0%) in the five minutes from 10.00pm, when host Emma Willis announced that viewers had voted Chloe Wilburn the winner.
The numbers round off a disappointing summer of ratings for Channel 5 as the series had a bad fall in ratings over the summer but some fans say it's due to lack of promotion of the show and also starting a lot earlier than usual and with many plots and twists throughout the show turned people away from the show.
But since returning to Ireland the show has been a ratings success for TV3 in Republic of Ireland over the summer and last night saw averaged 224,700 viewers in the Republic. This was 15.96% of the available audience – more than double the UK share of 7%.
The show has come out well in ratings for the channel and a TV3 spokesperson said: “This year has proved that after ten years on air the beast that is Big Brother is alive and well. For 3e and TV3 it has been a brilliant addition to our schedule with the ratings growing each night.”
